Land Description
316* hectares (64*%) of the property is located on the Dawson River flood plain originally timbered with brigalow, coolabah and associated timbers with black to grey self-mulching clay soils rising to softer loam soils. The topography is level to slightly undulating.
178* hectares (36* %) of the property is undulating brigalow scrub with wilga and box, and grey clay soil. Includes 50* hectares of stoney brigalow softwood scrub with bottletree influence. Pastures in the grazing country include leucaena, buffel and panic.
Irrigation
Llocated on the Dawson River downstream of the Gyranda, Glebe and Orange Creek weirs and upstream of the Theodore Weir in Zone J of the Dawson River irrigation area. Total furrow irrigation 287.37* hectares (710* acres). Annual water allocation of 1,600* megalitres and three* flood harvest licences.
The “water year” on this section of the Dawson River is from 1 October* to 30 September* and is pumped to the 2,650* megalitres of storage in the ring tanks and supply channels. Water is either gravity fed or pumped around the property. Some overland flow is collected into the storages.
